Scan Aid sail through to the semis of the CAF African Schools Football Championship

WAFU-A champions Scan Aid have qualified to the semi-finals of the inaugural CAF African Schools Football Championship in Durban, South Africa.

The Gambian side booked their place in the last four of the tournament despite losing their second Group A match against high flying Fountain Gate School of Tanzania.

The Brufut based school opened their account with a come from behind 1-1 draw against host side Edendale Technical High School on Wednesday morning at the King Zwelithini Stadium.

Samkelo Gwananda put the South African side in front but Kaddy Camara grabbed a deserved equaliser for the WAFU-A champions.

Amadou BB Jatta’s side who are without some key players due to injury suffered a 2-0 defeat to the impressive Fountain Gate School.

Goals from Zainabu Karuka and Winifrida Gerald were enough to secure the Cecafa side top spot in the group and a place in the semis alongside Scan Aid.

Scan Aid will face the winner of Group A for a place in Saturday’s final at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
